These new apartments offer more than a place to live.
Across the road from our services in Dana Street, and with unique design features, this new purpose-built accommodation will allow us to offer ongoing support to people experiencing vulnerability as they transition into safe and secure housing.
Our proposal
The project worth over $15.5 million repurposes land at 119 Albert Street.
We’re not just building homes; we are supporting those who will live there.
The Albert Street site is ideally located close to Uniting Ballarat support services at Dana Street and key amenities including:
- Ballarat Railway Station
- Ballarat Central Shopping Centre
- Eureka Medical and Dental Centre
- White Flat Recreation Reserve
- Ballarat Central Uniting Church
- Federation University.

- 24 apartments over four levels, including three for indigenous people
- Privacy for both residents and neighbours with extra screening on balcony
- Sustainable design with a building four-star green star rating and a NatTHERS (Energy efficiency rating) ratings of seven or above
- The project will provide significant economic and social benefits for Ballarat – with construction jobs and new community housing
- Four car and 14 bike parks available on site.
Planning update
Our planning application is being made under the provisions of Clause 52.20 of the City of Ballarat Planning Scheme.
A community consultation concluded on 17 July 2024.
Once we have finalised any design changes, our application will be submitted to the Department of Transport and Planning to manage. The Minister for Planning is the decision maker. Once we receive the Minister’s decision, we will update this page with a copy of the consultation report and submissions received.
We will also write to people who responded during the consultation with updates to the proposal.
